Waffle Flower— Organic Floral Gilded Anniversary Card
Hello crafty friends! Welcome back to the blog!
Today I’m sharing this absolutely gilded floral anniversary card. There is so much gold on this card and I love it. Not the mention, the florals are an absolute dream. This card is focusing on using the Organic Floral stamp set from Waffle Flower as well as the coordinating stencil and dies (though these are not necessary). I had bought this shortly after it was released a few months ago with a Happy Anniversary stamp and die set, and I knew they would go together perfectly and make quick and easy cards.
To start this card off, I heat embossed the floral stamp using Gilded embossing powder from Brutus Monroe on Concord & 9th white cardstock. This cardstock makes ink blending a dream, so I knew I had to use it here. I lined the floral stencil up (mind you this will look like it’s not lined up when you do, that is the organic/abstract design the set has) and lightly ink blended Grapefruit ink from Concord & 9th, and then lined up the leaf stencil and ink blended Parsley ink, also from C9.
After I had completed the blending, I started thinking about what to do with the panel since it was the background panel. I don’t know what my deal is, but I love dies that have edge detail to them. I have a hard time not using them, and for this card I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I had thought of using scalloped rectangles, but I decided to go with Deco Frames dies from The Greetery. I had just purchased these after falling in love with them on their website, and they are amazing! I love the detail they brought to this card! I used the largest frame on the floral background, then used the medium sized one to cut a panel out of white cardstock. After looking at these together, I decided to make my card front panel out of matte gold cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. That gold cardstock is literal gold- it is absolutely beautiful and I’m sure I’ll be using it often. The gold really pops with the floral panel and adds a layer of elegance to the whole card.
After getting those details straightened out, I started to work on my greeting. I had stamped and gold heat embossed on Grapefruit cardstock, but since it was a little bit darker than the ink it looked off. I decided to ink blend Grapefruit ink on a scrap of C9 white cardstock and heat emboss on that, which worked out great since that made it a perfect match to the background. I used the coordinating die for the greeting and started to fiddle with the placement on the card panel. I selected my sub greeting from the stamp set, and since I couldn’t decide if I wanted it on white cardstock or gold, I heat embossed it on both using Gilded embossing powder on the white cardstock, and Alabaster embossing powder (both from Brutus Monroe) on the gold cardstock and cut the strips down to size. I started to think the white could get lost a little on the white panel, but the gold could be a little bit too much gold, so I compromised and chose the white sentiment strip but added a thin strip of gold cardstock on the bottom edge of it for some pop. I think this turned out really cool and I need to remember to do it more!
I decided I wanted more flowers on the white panel, so I heat embossed and stenciled the floral stamp again. I used the coordinating dies for the florals and cut out as many flowers and leaves as I could. I loved the largest flower in the stamp set, so I decided that it would be the focal point on the front of the card, and I would surround it with some leaves.
I finished off the front of the card with some clear dew drops that I had left over from C9 Summer Camp, and I love what these brought to the card! I decided to stamp ‘may the adventures continue’ on the inside of the card from the Happy Birthday Sentiments from Pinkfresh Studio. I had recently purchased this stamp set, and I think it has a really great value to it! There are a ton of birthday greetings in it, and I love the range of those sentiments, so I’m sure I’ll be reaching for this one and my trusty Spellbinders one often.
I hope you enjoyed this card! I love how elegant and fresh it feels, and anytime I can sneak flowers in on a card, I’m a happy girl. I hope you have a great rest of your day, and I hope to catch you next time!
