Simon Says Stamp—Geometric Builders Hearts Anniversary Card

Happy Friday!!

Today I’m sharing this love packed wedding anniversary card I made for my parents’ upcoming 38th wedding anniversary. I actually picked up the Geometric Builders Hearts die set from Simon Says Stamp with the intention of using it for my parents’ card, but it truly can be used for so many occasions! It would be perfect for birthdays, sympathy, thinking of yous, Valentines—literally anything! I’m really looking forward to using this die set again, and I think I want to use it with patterned paper or at least less ‘love’ colored cardstock.

Speaking of cardstock, all the cardstock I used on this card is from Concord & 9th. I’ve shared this in past, but I’m going to share it again, I think Concord & 9th’s cardstock is amazing! I feel it has a better bang for your buck than other companies since you get 2 more sheets of paper for the same price, and I love the range of colors they have. For this card I wanted to use colors similar to my mom and dad’s wedding colors, so I used Cranberry, Poppy, Grapefruit, Sorbet, Ballet Slipper, and Honeysuckle cardstocks as well as the new Rose Gold foil cardstock (I believe this is a matte foil, but I couldn’t verify on their website). The Rose Gold is gorgeous and perfect for this card!

I die cut the large and medium hearts out of each color so that I could paper piece fun color combos. I had no rhyme or reason to what I assembled, but I knew I wanted to have the Rose Gold as accent throughout the card. For some of the hearts, I paired pieces with corresponding colors, and for another (the one that’s hidden 😢) I went in rainbow order. I love paper piecing—it’s so therapeutic and mindless, and for an anxious girl like me, I mostly love it (except when I overthink color combos 😅).

Once I had my hearts ready to go, I worked on my sentiment. The Happy Anniversary stamp set from Waffle Flower is what drove this card, since I knew I would be using. I really love this stamp set for anniversary sentiments, not only does it include two large ‘happy anniversary’ greetings in different fonts, but it has a plethora of supporting greetings. It’s a great stamp set (and coordinating die set for the large sentiments) to have in your stash! I white heat embossed both the large greeting and my sub greeting on black cardstock and die cut both.

After testing out a handful of different patterned papers, I decided to use the Honeycomb Quilt Top die as a backdrop to this card to add some subtle texture. When it came to gluing down the hearts, I had no pattern in mind, I just fussed around with them to get an organic, flowy arrangement. Next, I glued down the sentiments and added foam squares to the cardstock where it needed a little bit of extra support. To finish the card off, I die cut and glued down some small and extra small hearts.

I love the shine the Rose Gold foiled paper brings to this card! It’s a nice soft shine that really compliments the rest of the color scheme. I can’t wait to pop this card in the mail since my parents are not expecting it.

Well, thanks for stopping by! I hope this card gave you some inspiration, and if not, I’ll catch you next time! 😊
