Quick & Easy Christmas Tags—Day 1

Hi, Friends! Happy Tuesday!!

Since we’re getting closer to Christmas, I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon of making tags! I’ve never really had the desire prior to this year, but I really wanted to have some fun with them this year! So, I’m going to start a little series of Quick & Easy Christmas Tags! I have no clue how many days will be in this series yet, but stay tuned for more!

Today’s tags are quick and simple! The star of the show is the red patterned paper from Concord & 9th. This paper is from the Be Merry paper pack that was released this past September, and I love it! I love the scripty holiday messages that are on it, it’s such a classic! To make these tags, I used the rectangular tag die from the Farmhouse Tags die set from the Essentials by Ellen line at Ellen Hutson and die cut it out of the patterned paper twice, as well as plain white cardstock twice. I really like these tag dies especially since you get three different shapes in this set! With my tag bases cut out, I glued them together so the pretty/nice sides of each were facing the outside. Not only does this make the back of the tag look nice, but it added a nice bit of strength to it.

Honestly, this paper is pretty enough that if you wanted tags that showcased it more, you could just stop here! But, I decided to take it up a notch. For the version with the green ornament, I used the Holiday Messages Ornament stamp set and coordinating dies from Simon Says Stamp. I stamped the ornament in Clover ink from Concord & 9th, ensured it was fully dry, then white heat embossed the ‘jingle all the way’ scripty message on top of it. While waiting for that to cool down, I stamped and gold heat embossed the ornament topper. After die cutting the topper and the ornament, I glued them together, stacked it over the hole in the rectangular tag, then threaded some twine between them. Such a super quick and easy tag, especially if you want mass production!

For the snowflake tag, I let the design speak for itself and left off a sentiment. I mainly did this beacuse I wanted the snowflake to shine. I used the smallest of the Snowflake Trio die set from Simon Says Stamp and die cut it two times—once out of plain white cardstock, and another out of Concord & 9th white glitter paper (this is THE best white glitter paper in the world, I will die on that hill). I die cut the shadow to the snowflake out of SSS heavyweight vellum and glued the stacked snowflake on top of it. I die cut a circular tag with the Farmhouse Tags die set out of Wheat cardstock from Concord & 9th and glued the snowflake on top of it. Once that was ready to go, I lined both tags up and ran twine through the top holes.

The twine I used on these tags was from a freebie that I got from a recent Ellen Hutson order, but if you’re looking for good twine, I like the Lawn Fawn Lawn Trimmings and an assorted twine set from Violet Studio (got this from SSS)! I hope you liked these tags! For being the first ones I’ve ever made, I’m pretty happy with them!

I hope to catch you next time with more inspiration! It will either be more tags or a Christmas card. Thanks for stopping by! 😊
