Colorado Craft Company—Holiday Savvy Sentiments

Happy Thursday, Friends!

Can you believe we’re just over a week out from Christmas?! It seems like time is really flying, and I’m not ready for the holiday season to be over. With that said, today I’ve got another quick and easy Christmas card for you! I just might be making Christmas cards right up until the new year since they make me so happy! Today’s card really is quick and easy thanks to the Holiday Quick Cards Savvy Sentiments from Colorado Craft Company! This is my first time using a product from them, and I really love this sentiment set! I love how you can choose which sentiment to build (which you can make up to 5) and I love the fonts! This stamp set will definitely make a reappearance next year!

Since the sentiment is so large, and I really wanted to put it on display, I chose to heat emboss it using Sterling embossing powder from Brutus Monroe, and I did so twice. I love the added thickness heat embossing two times added to the sentiment, and I feel like it really makes it pop! While heat embossing, I did run into some issues with the embossing on the ‘merry’ but I did my best to smooth it out with my heat gun, but in the end it left texture on the downstrokes of the letters, but that’s okay! This is handmade and not Hallmark, am I right?! Once the heat embossing was done, I decided to die cut the sentiment out using one of the larger arch dies from the Essential Arches die set from Ellen Hutson. I really love this die set, and you’ll be seeing a bit more of it in the next week!

I die cut three additional arches out of plain white cardstock to add some dimension. Once I had this done, I set it aside and got to work on the background. On Instagram I’ve been seeing a lot of people making their own patterned paper backgrounds with strips of paper (especially Yasmin Diaz— she’s @cardsandcraftsbyyaz on Instagram if you don’t follow her!), so I got inspired to do that with this card! I cut 1/2-inch strips of Poppy, Grapefruit, Clover, Sea Glass, and Stardust cardstocks from Concord & 9th and glued them down in that order on my card front and repeated it until it was covered.

Laying my sentiment over the striped background, I noticed it was really missing something. Luckily the arch dies I have cut out a border when it die cuts the arch, so I used the same size and die cut it out of Concord & 9th matte silver cardstock. This gave it the perfect finishing touch and adds a great pop to the background. Lastly, I decided to add some sequins to the sentiment to bring a little bit more of a pop to the card. I ended up using some leftover sequins from the 2022 Concord & 9th Summer Camp, but any silver sequins would work!

Also, Kristina Werner made a fabulous video using this sentiment stamp set and watercolor!

That’s all I’ve got for today! I hope you liked this card and that I’ll catch you next time with more inspiration! 😊
