Pinkfresh Studio—Blooming Peony Thank You Card

Happy Thursday!

I’ve got another Pinkfresh Studio project for you today, this time featuring the Blooming Peony product suite. My sweet husband picked these products, as well as the Poppy Mix product suite, up for me for Christmas and I’m so glad to be getting around to using them this week. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers, so I was in love with this stamp when it was released! Since I’m still in need of a thank you card or two to send out to family, I decided this stamp would make a perfect thank you card.

I got started by gold heat embossing the Blooming Peony stamp on Concord & 9th cardstock since I was going to be using the coordinating stencil set. At this point my idea was to mask off the edges of my panel and top the completed stenciled portion with a scalloped frame for some visual interest (if you want to see this done with hot foil, check out this video from Carissa Wiley). I mostly worked in the order the stencils were numbered, but I held off on stencil 1 until the end since I wasn’t sure if I was going to be adding some color to the background. Once again I busted out my Concord & 9th inks, and I stenciled the large peony in Ballet Slipper, Grapefruit and Sorbet inks. The small flowers were stenciled in Grapefruit using a light hand, all flower centers were stenciled in Buttercup ink, and the leaves were inked up in Parsley and Evergreen inks. At this point, since I was planning on leaving the masked portion of the image as white cardstock, I decided to lightly blend on Dove ink to the background of the unmasked area with that first stencil using a light hand. I like the subtle hint of color this added to the panel so that there’s some differentiation and a little bit of added dimension.

After removing my post-it tape masking, I decided to cut my panel down about 1/8-inch on each side so that I could still mat it on my card base. I probably could have left the card panel at 4.25x 5.5-inches so that more of the floral outlines could be seen, but I matted it on a piece of Ivory cardstock (from SSS) that I think brings a little bit of warmth to the card. I die cut my frame using the Stitched Scallop Rectangles (also from Pinkfresh) out of Evergreen cardstock from Concord & 9th. I really like this color and I think it complements the leaves really well. I ended up choosing Evergreen since I didn’t think white or Ivory would pop enough, but they would still have looked beautiful!

Once I had my frame glued down, I got to work on my greeting. I’ve been on the hunt for some nice, basic thank you dies, and while waiting for the Altenew Versatile Greetings die set Jennifer McGuire recommended to come back in stock, I stumbled upon this Thank You die set from Photo Play. I love this die set, the font is so pretty and classy and I knew it would be perfect to pair with this floral card. So I die cut it out of two layers of plain white cardstock and one layer of SSS matte gold cardstock. The matte gold pops perfectly with the gold embossing and is so beautiful! To add a finishing touch to this card, I broke out my Rock Candy Sequins from Trinity Stamps to add a bit of shine.

I hope you liked this card! I really happy I got to play with the products my husband got me this week, they’re so pretty and elegant, and best of all, floral! 😍 Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I hope to catch you next time with more inspiration!
