Mama Elephant—Snow Angels Christmas Card

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday!

Hopefully the week is off to a good start for you! I have such a cutesy Christmas card to share with you today! I don’t craft with the cutesy style too often, but when I do, I remember how much fun it can be! For this card, I busted out two stamp sets from Mama Elephant that I’ve had for probably 2 years now 😅 that I hadn’t used yet. And man, am I glad I got them out! I love how this card turned out.

Since I am an anxiety prone overthinker, when I work on projects that I’m free stamping a design, I tend to do a trial run first. It helps me to make sure I’m not wasting my ‘good’ cardstock, and it really helps me to nail down a design I won’t have regrets over (or have to panic fix haha). This design ended up being my third variation of this card, and I’m really happy with it. It is a combination of the sentiments from the Let it Snow stamp set, with three of the critters and the snow angel outlines from the Snow Angels stamp set.

For this card to turn out how I wanted it to, fussy cutting would be a necessity since I don’t have the dies for this set. I really wanted this card to feel like a fun day playing in the snow, and I think I accomplished that! I wanted the snow angel outlines to be white heat embossed to look like piled up snow, so I heat embossed them using Alabaster from Brutus Monroe. I stamped the sentiment on the card front in Sea Glass from Concord & 9th since I really love the softness of this color (this would also look great in Aqua Sky ink as well). At this point, I decided to lightly blend on Sea Glass ink to define the snow angel edges, as well as around the whole card to give it a soft vignette look.

Next, I got to work coloring the critters. The alcohol markers I use are Ohuhu markers, which I got off of Amazon. I really like these markers, and the price point makes them a good alternative to Copic markers. I do have the color combinations written down for everything, so if you’re interested in those, comment down below and I’ll share them!

I got to work fussy cutting the critters and glued them down. At this point, the card felt like it was lacking a finishing touch, so I went looking for it. I decided on the small snowflakes die from the Winter Wonderland die set from Concord & 9th, and I die cut it out of C9 white glitter paper. This is the perfect touch of a snowy element and the right amount of sparkle. I love how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope that I inspired you, and if you’re like me and you don’t break out your cutesy stamps too often, hopefully this inspires you to! I’ll catch you next time with more inspiration! 😊
