Confetti Filled 60th Birthday Card
Hi friends!
Today I’m sharing a sixtieth birthday card that I made for my dad. When I was planning this card out, I really wanted it to feel like a party popper explosion— confetti, streamers, and color everywhere, especially since I wouldn’t be with my dad for his birthday.
I started this card off using the Celebrations Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th using Sprout, Buttercup, Aqua Sky, and Marmalade inks. I cut the 6x6 panel down to A2 size, but then decided to take 1/4 inch off each side so I could mat the panel on a solid-colored cardstock, in this case Oceanside from C9. I die cut the 60 from glossy black cardstock from Simon Says Stamp using the Bold Numbers dies from The Greetery, and added a white die cut for some dimension. At this point, I thought I was going to place the numbers in the middle of the panel and have streamers going all around it, but I realized that I needed to pop the numbers up and have the streamers in the background. So I die cut the medium-sized rectangle from the Deco Frames dies from The Greetery out of Ivory cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. I stamped and black heat embossed ‘You’re’ from the Digit Sentiments stamp set, also from The Greetery, to the top of the ivory panel and glued the 60 centered below it.
I die cut my streamers out of Sprout, Aqua Sky, Buttercup, Marmalade, and Poppy cardstock from C9 using the Streamer Ribbons dies from Simon Says Stamp. These dies are super fun and I like that they could be used for any type of celebration. I also love how the texture on the 60 matches the texture on the streamers and kind of ties them together. I fiddled around with the arrangement of the streamers and glued them down. I cut a small rectangle of scrap white cardstock to add a little bit of support to the middle of the ivory panel and glued it on the card front. To add a little something extra to the card, I found in my stash some left over party blowers from the Make Some Noise die set Concord & 9th released in February of this year. This die set, like the streamers, is super fun and can be used for a variety of occasions, and I love that it allows you to paper piece together a party blower of any color combination.
After gluing down the party blower, I finished the front of the card off with some beautiful Rock Candy sequins from Trinity Stamps. I love the shine that these sequins bring to the card! For the inside of the card, I decided to stamp “Don’t count your candles, just enjoy the glow!” from the Happy Birthday Sentiments stamp set from Pinkfresh Studio. This stamp set really gives you the bang for your buck with the variety of sentiments packed into it, so I will be using this often for birthday cards.
I hope you enjoyed this fun, confetti packed card! I’m off to drop it in the mailbox, so I’ll catch you next time!
