Concord & 9th—Holly Jolly Christmas Card
Happy Friday, Crafters! 🎉
Today I’ve got a fun card to share using a handful of products from Concord & 9th’s September 2022 release. I’m busting out the Plaid turnabout stamp again, the Snowfall card front die, the ‘holly jolly’ die from the Festive Phrases dies set, and some greenery pieces from the Boughs & Holly die set. I had a lot of fun putting this card together and playing with different patterns and textures, and the layout is different from what I’ve done in a while, so that’s always exciting!
I started this card off by stamping the Plaid turnabout stamp in Grapefruit, Parsley, Cranberry and Evergreen. These are the perfect holiday colors, and I love what Grapefruit adds to this, it makes it feel a little less traditional but fun. I removed the completed turnabout background from the jig and cut a 4.25 x 2.5 inch rectangle out of it, I probably could have gone a little shorter, but I’m okay how this turned out! I used the Snowfall card front die on an A2 sized piece of white cardstock and glued the plaid pattern to the bottom of it. To make the transition between the plaid and the snowy pattern a bit more seamless, I cut a 1/4 inch strip of C9 matte silver cardstock and glued it on top. I really like the classic feel this little strip of cardstock brings to the card.
Next up was the greeting. I die cut the shadow of the ‘holly jolly’ out of Grapefruit cardstock, and the words out a white cardstock and white glitter cardstock. I glued the white glitter cardstock on top of the white words and shifted it to give a bit of a shadow to the letters. I love how this white glitter looks as the sentiment; the subtle pink and green sparkle to it is beautiful, and it goes so well with the color scheme to this card.
While playing around with the placement of the greeting, I got the idea to use my leftover greenery from my last cards and to put it around the ‘holly jolly’. These die cuts were cut out of Evergreen and Parsley for the greenery, and Cranberry, Grapefruit and Wheat for the berries. I took a little creative freedom with one of the dies and turned it into a berry sprig and glued the die cut berries on it. After working out placement, I glued the greenery pieces down, popped the greeting up on foam squares and stuck it down. Once the greeting was glued, I added a couple more stray berries around it to fill the area out.
And that wraps up this card! It was definitely another quick and easy card, it probably came together quicker than my last two. I’m really liking the combination of turnabout stamps and card front dies like this! I almost wish I could have made this a mini slimline, but the ‘holly jolly’ was a bit too wide.
Thanks for stopping by the blog, I hope to catch you next time!
