Concord & 9th— Triple Step Hi Seven Ways

Hi crafters, and welcome back to the blog!

If you’ve been following along, you know by now that I’m a huge Concord & 9th fan. They are my favorite brand by far and could probably sell me a jar of dirt. I love them. When the July release came out, I was swooning over this stamp and die bundle. I’ve used two of C9’s triple step stamps before, but I think this one is my favorite. I love the variety of options you have with the bundle alone, let alone adding sentiments from other stamp sets. And don’t get me started on this stamp set because it is beautiful! The art and the layering ability is just a chef’s kiss.

Anyway, I’ll stop fawning over C9 for now haha, scroll down to check out each of the cards I created and the details for each.

This was my first project, and it is a heart stopper! When I was done stamping it, I literally said ‘ohmygod’ out loud and sent pictures to my mom and husband. I was shook. I stamped the base layer in Sea Glass, the flowers in Grapefruit, the greenery in Evergreen, and the buds/dots in Honeysuckle. I die cut and stacked the ‘hi’ on a while panel that I used the Stitched Vines card front on. This combo was in my head before I got my order, and I love how they go together. I die cut the word ‘love’ from All the Love dies, and at this point I decided I wanted the panel cut down and matted on Wheat cardstock. I placed the ‘love’ down and thought the card needed a finishing touch, so I channeled my inner Kristina Werner and added a white gel pen dashed line.

This card is so different from the first, and it was actually the 5th one that I created. I really wanted to create a moody, monochrome floral and I think I achieved it. I stamped the base layer in Mushroom, the flowers in Dove, the leaves in Intense Black Ink from Simon Says Stamp, and left the buds/berries the white of the cardstock. Once I had it stamped and die cut, I wasn’t sure what I wanted as a background. I raided my stash and chose between the Sketched Stripes background stamp from C9 (stamped in black) and the Enchanted Blooms cling stamp from Pinkfresh Studio, which I heat embossed in Ultra Fine Black embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp. That embossing powder is lovely, it has the glossiest finish, and it adds amazing texture to this card. I cut the floral panel down and mounted it on an A2 sized piece of Mushroom cardstock. I finished it off with a white heat embossed sentiment from the Hello Wishes stamp set and die cut it using the coordinating die.

I love the fun vibe this card has. For the background, I used the Paint Swash Turnabout stamp, which I think might be one of my favorite Turnabout stamps since it makes amazing multipurpose backgrounds. I stamped the first turn in Sea Glass, the second in Grapefruit, and the third in Stardust. I didn’t stamp a fourth turn, but instead filled in the gaps with the included stamps to add a fun pattern. I die cut the ‘hi’ out of C9 White Glitter cardstock, and this stuff is amazing! The glitter does not come off when die cutting, and it’s so pretty, it has a subtle pink and green duo chrome sort of color when the light hits it. To finish the card off, I die cut the ‘there’ included in the die set out of Grapefruit cardstock.

Here comes the color! This card is pretty simple and straightforward, and it only needs three shades of ink! I started blending Buttercup ink on the middle of a panel of C9 white cardstock (this is amazing for ink blending). Next, I blended Aqua Sky on the bottom of the panel and worked it into the Buttercup ink to create a light green blend. I repeated this process at the top with Honeysuckle ink and created a pretty orange shade where it met the Buttercup ink. After I was done ink blending, I die cut out the ‘hi’ and decided I wanted to do the eclipse technique. However, I wanted to add some texture to the background with the Double Stitched card front from the July release, so this might not be a traditional eclipse technique, but I still think it looks pretty cool. After gluing down my die cut panel to a card front, I die cut and glued down 4 white ‘hi’ die cuts then topped them off with the ink blended ‘hi’. I stamped my sub greeting on Eggplant cardstock to add some purple to this rainbow and finished the card off with some silver sequins.

This card is so sweet with the stitched details! I die cut the base of the letters out of Grapefruit cardstock, and die cut extras out of white, Stardust, and Evergreen so I could paper piece the florals. At first I was going to do all the florals in Stardust, but it looked too dark against the Grapefruit, so I switched to white florals. I die cut a white cardstock panel using the Pinwheel Quilt Top die and glued the ‘hi’ down. I white heat embossed my sub greeting on Stardust cardstock and called the card done.

This is the bonus card created from the negative of the die cut ‘hi’ from the next card. I knew I wanted to use the Confetti Dots Turnabout stencil, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use it with the die cut, or the negative. I decided to use it on the negative with the intention of making this card a shaker card, but in the end, I decided that the dots were super cute as an inlaid pattern, so I made the card a one-layer card. I ink blended Sea Glass on the first turn, then Grapefruit, Peacock, and did the fourth turn in Stardust. C9 has amazing stencils, they are super thick and feel indestructible. I finished the card off with a sub greeting from the Hello Wishes stamp set and die cut it using the larger sentiment die from the Triple Step Hi die set.

This is such a playful and simple card! I went back to the background stamp I turned away from with the dark moody floral card (Sketched Stripe background stamp) and decided to heat emboss it in gold. This background was actually stamped twice to have more stripes, which is great since the stamp allows you to create a variety of striped backgrounds with one stamp. I love how the gold plays off the Sea Glass letters, almost looking like Stardust when it’s not shining. Because of that and how good Stardust and Sea Glass look together, I white heat embossed a sentiment from the Picked Posie Greeting stamp set on Stardust cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating die.

And that wraps up my seven takes on the Triple Step Hi bundle! This bundle is amazing, and I truly think it is more than worth the investment especially since it can be used in so many ways. Comment below if you had a favorite, I would love to know which!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to catch you next time! :)
