Concord & 9th—Autumn Hues & Triple Step Autumn Leaf

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing another fall card featuring products from, you guessed it, Concord & 9th. I know I have been using C9 products a lot lately, but I truly love them! They’re by far my favorite company in the crafting world, so bear with me as I share another card featuring their wonderful products.

This card features a mash up of the Autumn Hues stencil released this past August, and the Triple Step Autumn Leaf that was released last year. I really wanted to show that their stencil can be used with more than the coordinating stamp set and that if you raid your stash, you’ll probably find some products that would work wonderfully with it too!

This project actually ended up a bit different from how it started—originally my leafy background had leaves in Stardust, Marmalade, Grapefruit and Peacock, hence the color coordination on the big Triple Step Leaf, but it felt too busy to my eyes. So I switched up my plan and instead inked all four turns of the Turnabout stencil in Wheat ink on Wheat cardstock. I cut the panel down using a rectangle from my nested rectangles dies from Waffle Flower to leave about a 1/4 inch on each side.

For the Triple Step Leaf, I die cut it five times, one out of Peacock cardstock, then one out of Stardust, Marmalade, Grapefruit and my final die cut out of Simon Says Stamp Matte Gold cardstock (this stuff is to die for! 😍). Since I wanted to darken the leaf up a bit/add a little bit of dimension, I ink blended some Midnight ink on to the Peacock leaf since it was going to the star of the card. I inlaid the Grapefruit, Stardust, Marmalade and matte gold fall out in the leaf.

I decided to use a Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die to cut the Midnight card front panel in order to give it some extra interest and tie it in to the stitching on the larger leaf.

Before gluing the leaf down, I really felt like the card was lacking something. I was playing around with the matte gold lacey die cut and thinking about putting a second leaf on the card when I realized that a gold shadow would be absolutely stunning behind the Peacock leaf. So I used the plain leaf die cut and cut one out of the same matte gold cardstock, and glued it behind the Peacock leaf so it was slightly offset. I looove what this added to the card, the gold and the blues together just pop and are stunning!

Now onto the sentiment! For the sentiment I actually pulled out a stamp set that was released this past spring (I can’t remember what month, but I know it was originally an SCT event stamp and die set) called Grateful Blooms. The reason I chose this stamp set was because it had coordinating dies that cut the sentiment out pretty closely. I also thought it was pretty fitting for a fall card too!

I heat embossed the ‘grateful’ on black cardstock using Alabaster embossing powder from Brutus Monroe, and embossed the ‘for you’ on the same matte gold cardstock using the same embossing powder. I like how the ‘for you’ pops against the ‘grateful’ and I like that it pulls it back to the gold on the leaf.

I hope you enjoyed this card! I love the background and how it ties into the statement leaf, and I am head over heels for that stunning matte gold cardstock. It is SO good, if you don’t have it you might want to pick some up! Thanks for stopping by, I hope to catch you next time!
