Concord & 9th— Autumn Hues Hello Autumn Card

Happy Monday!

Today I’m sharing this absolutely lovely fall card I made using products from Concord & 9th. The newest product featured in this card is the Autumn Hues die set that was released this past August. After making my fall floral cards, I had the idea to use the same color palette and create something similar using the leaf dies in this die set. I love how C9 cardstock looks blended with the corresponding inks or those darker, and I adore how this card looks like a happy leaf pile that someone raked up.

I started out by die cutting all four leaf dies out of Grapefruit, Sorbet, Honeysuckle, Buttercup, Stardust, Marmalade, Poppy, Cranberry, and Wheat cardstocks from C9 (I also die cut Peacock and Eggplant but didn’t use them in this card). Then I started ink blending, and when doing my sticky mat was super helpful at holding down the die cuts! I have the Brutus Monroe sticky mat, and if you can spare $7 (when it’s in stock) I highly recommend it!

These are the ink blending color combos I followed:

  • Grapefruit ink on Grapefruit cardstock

  • Honeysuckle ink on Sorbet cardstock

  • Eggplant ink on Honeysuckle cardstock

  • Poppy ink on Marmalade cardstock and Buttercup cardstock

  • Stardust ink on Stardust cardstock

  • Cranberry ink on Poppy cardstock and Cranberry cardstock

  • Wheat ink on Wheat cardstock

I really love these color combos, and I love the shading that a small amount of ink blending adds to the die cuts. It reminds of how leaves change in real life by gradually getting deeper in color.

Once my leaves were all blended and ready, I got to work on the sentiment. When making my other C9 fall cards, I had set aside the Woodland Turnabout stamp because I loved the large ‘hello autumn’ greeting included in the stamp set. The coordinating die set had 2 square dies in it to mat sentiments and that was the other deciding factor on using this stamp set. So, I gold heat embossed the sentiment on plain white cardstock and die cut it using the corresponding die. For the large square shadow, I die cut it out of Simon Says Stamp matte gold cardstock (my obsession right now, it is the most gorgeous metallic gold).

Originally when I started playing with placement, I was thinking of gluing everything down on a white card front. However, before I did that, I remembered that I had a pre-stamped card front using the Woven Stripes background stamp from C9 that I had stamped in Dove ink. I decided to use this as the card front because I love the cozy feeling it brings! It makes me think of warm fall sweaters or flannel, and I love how it really adds to the fall vibe of the card. With the background figured out, I started gluing my leaves down (with the help of some glorious Press’n’Seal of course). After getting my leaves glued down, I did die cut a couple extra to add a little bit more fullness in some spots to balance the pile as much as possible without overworking it too much. Once I had the leaf pile to my liking, I popped the sentiment up on some Simon Says Stamp foam squares and called this card done.

So, what do you think of this card?! I love the cozy, happy feel it has, but I could maybe be biased since fall is my favorite season 😊. Thanks for stopping by to check this card out, I hope to catch you next time too!
