Concord & 9th— More ITC: Color Edition Cards!
Hello, Crafters, and happy Wednesday!
Today I’ve got three more cards featuring the products from the In the Classroom: Color Edition event put on by Concord & 9th. The products from this class are beautiful—perfect for spring, and perfect for introducing their new colors!
Last week, I worked with the Big & Bold die set, and this week I have one card using that die set, but I focused more on stamping and trying out the new ink colors, so I have two projects using them. Eight inks were included in our kit—Nectar, Spiced Cider, Sunflower, Blueberry, Tidepool, Artichoke, Lilac, and Fig. These colors are so exciting!
Pretty Petals Hello Card
How fun is this card?! I took a little bit of creative freedom with the color selection here and deviated slightly from the class instructions. I really like the Blueberry (dark blue) and Tidepool (lighter, dusty blue) inks, so I wanted to make them the star of the card. I stamped the stems in Artichoke ink, which is also a fantastic color, the buds in Buttercup and the little leaves under the buds in Spiced Cider ink. I die cut the stamped panel with the scallop die included in the die set, then got a fun idea for the sentiment. I really like the ‘hello’ sentiment from the Picked Posie Greetings stamp set (also from Concord & 9th), so I die cut a plain white piece of paper with the same scallop die so that I could line my sentiment ‘strip’ up with my stamped panel in a seamless way.
I stamped the ‘hello’ in Mushroom ink, then cut it down to a size that I thought felt right. I lined it up on my card front and glued it down. I could have stamped this over the background, but I didn’t want to run the risk of ruining my panel if I didn’t like it enough/didn’t think it popped enough. I popped the stamped panel up on some foam tape and stuck it down on an A2-sized piece of Tidepool cardstock.
Pretty Petals Thank You Card
I had so much fun die cutting all the little floral elements on this card! I started out by centering the stem and leaves stamp on a white card front and stamping it in the same Artichoke ink. From here I die cut buds out of Harbor and Powder, Buttercup and Clementine, and flowers out of Fig and Lilac, and Pink Lemonade and Sweet Pea. I love all these colors and how they bring a nice, bright, cheeriness to this card!
I decided to stick with the ‘thank you’ banner sentiment that came in the die set, so I die cut it out of black cardstock and a backer out of white. I popped the sentiment up on thin foam squares from Simon Says Stamp and popped it down on the lower third of the card.
Big & Bold Easter Egg
I think this last card is my favorite! Playing with this die set last week really inspired me, and I had the idea to use the large floral dies and cover an egg with them and make a fun, spring-y egg shaped Easter card. To do this, I die cut the largest egg from the Essential Eggs die set from Ellen Hutson out of plain white cardstock. I die cut large florals out of Carnation, Honeycomb, Clementine, Harbor, and Lilac. The small florals were die cut out of Nectar, Powder, Fig, Honeycomb, and Ballet Slipper. Leaves were die cut out of Artichoke and Avocado, and flower centers were die cut out of Clementine and Buttercup.
To make this a shaped card, I die cut another egg with the same die out of a heavier weight cardstock, then scored that egg around 3/8-inch down from the top of the egg. I folded this score line back and forth to give it some flexibility, then placed glue on it and stuck it to the top of the back of the floral egg. This makes such a cute, shaped card, and I really love the florals on it! For the greeting, I pulled out the Easter Joy stamp set from Simon Says Stamp and embossed it on Sprout cardstock. I die cut this using the smallest of the Deco Frames dies from The Greetery and cut off the outer portion of the frame.
That wraps up the three cards I’ve got to share today! I had so much fun playing with these products, and I’ve still got some ideas brewing so you might see them again. Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I hope to catch you next time with more inspiration!
