Concord & 9th Colorful Grad Card

Hi Daydreamers!

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite card projects to date. It’s so bright and cheerful, and was made with my sister-in-law in mind. This year she graduated from NYU, so Concord & 9th’s Downtown Stacks dies were perfect for the occasion! On my crafting journey, I’ve learned that paper piecing dies are my literal favorite thing. There’s something about cutting out all the shapes in different colors and putting them together that makes my heart sing haha!

When I started making this card (a few months prior to my SIL’s graduation, so maybe March?) I didn’t have many Concord & 9th cardstock colors, the ones I managed to use in this project are Stardust and Grapefruit. Since this project, I’ve ordered every cardstock color they have- I absolutely adore them! They have a nice weight to them and I love how the colors have coordinating colors that are one shade above and below. They play together really well. The other cardstock colors used in this project are from random packs that I’ve bought from Michael’s (Reflections, Paper Accents, Neenah starter pack), and the Deli is cut out of Periwinkle from Hero Arts.

Now to the details! After die cutting and paper piecing the Downtown Stacks dies, I worked on my card panel. I used a 120lb card base from Simon Says Stamp that I cut down a little, and blended a nice blue sky using Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide. For the sun and clouds, I ended up using the sun and cloud dies from the Lawn Fawn platform pop-up add-on dies. The scale of these was perfect. I cut a strip of grey cardstock to ground my scene and placed my buildings, trees, and cars. Once my card panel was done, I die cut a blue-green A2 sized piece of cardstock and used the Stitched Stripe card front die from Concord & 9th to add a little bit of visual interest. Lastly, I added some glossy accents to the tires on the cars, and placed the congrats banner and shop names that I heat embossed in Gilded ultra-fine embossing powder from Brutus Monroe.

That wraps this project up! Thanks for taking a look!
