Concord & 9th—Petal Pushers Mother’s Day Card

Happy Thursday!

Today I’m back with another floral Mother’s Day card! After the new Concord & 9th ink and cardstock colors came out, I couldn’t wait to use them with their previously released stencils, and today I’m using the Petal Pushers stencil pack! Since I really liked the color palette I used on my last card, I thought it was perfect to use with the four-step floral background stencil. I also decided to go back to a design I created when I was guest designing with this product because I really liked it, and it allowed me to whip this card up super quickly, which I loved since I was behind on sending out our Mother’s Day cards.

I started this card out by cutting down a piece of white C9 cardstock to 4.25 x 5.5-inches. I tacked it down to my glass mat with repositionable adhesive and lined up the first stencil with the top of my card front. Like with my die cut Mother’s Day card, I decided I wanted the larger blooms to be in the ‘star colors’ of this card, so I blended on Dragonfruit (with a pretty light hand), Clementine, and Grapefruit inks on the front-facing flowers, and Honeycomb ink onto the side facing florals. To me, the bright cheery colors are more the focal point here, and Honeycomb and Harbor are more of the supporting florals and colors.

I lined up the second stencil, and blended on Avocado ink. This is such a perfect greenery color, I think it might be one of my favorites of the new color release (but I also can’t choose because that would be like picking favorite kids 😂). I moved onto the next stencil which was the tiny little florals, and blended them on with Harbor ink. I love the bright pop this blue adds to the stenciled background! Finishing up the stenciling, after a bit of back and forth, I decided to use Mushroom ink for the flower centers and little dots. Now, I forgot I recently re-inked my Mushroom ink cube, and that can be seen with how funny the front right Dragonfruit floral looks— I (unknowingly) came in too hot! So as a friendly reminder, don’t forget to tap off some extra ink on your surface before blending.

I love how this panel looks with the stenciling being the star, and just enough room to sneak in a greeting beneath it. I pulled out the same Mom & Dad die set and die cut the ‘mom’ out of one layer of black cardstock and two layers of plain white cardstock. I decided I wanted my subsentiment on this card to be the ‘happy mother’s day’ stamp from the Triple Step Heart stamp set since it was a little bit longer than the Pretty Pink Posh one I used in my previous card, and it would help fill up the space a little more. So before gluing my ‘mom’ die cut down, I black heat embossed the ‘happy mother’s day’ sentiment on my card front using Ultra Fine Black embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp. I’m going to say it again, because I don’t use this powder too often, but I truly love this embossing powder! It melts so smoothly and leaves your sentiment looking nice and juicy.

To add a little extra something-something, and to fill the space, I decided to add a floral arrangement to the left corner of the card. I die cut the flower out of Dragonfruit cardstock, the leaves out of Avocado, and the tiny flowers out of Harbor cardstock. The flower center was die cut out of Honeycomb, and the little flower center detail out of Mushroom. I wanted to keep the flowers as cohesive with the stenciling as possible so it wouldn’t stick out too much, but it makes me wish I blended on my Dragonfruit flowers with a little bit of a heavier hand!

That wraps up this card! Which version of this color palette do you prefer—the cardstock version from the other day, or this inky version?! This card came together super quickly and would be great for some last-minute crafting! I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope to catch you next time with more inspiration! 😊
